Erhan İşözen

Architect
Erhan İşözen graduated from Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts in 1980. He worked with the leading architects of Turkey during and after his studies.  He worked as an academic for a while at Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts and Yıldız Technical University, and as a consultant for Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, and municipalities of Beşiktaş and Şişli. For 25 years, he has developed and implemented in particular urban design, urban renewal and restoration projects in various areas of Istanbul.

Among these projects, there are Ortaköy Square and Environs Urban Design Project, Küçük Bebek Square, Levent Square, Kuruçeşme, Aşiyan, Vişnezade Poets’ Park, Beşiktaş Fishermen Bazaar and Eagle Monument, Ortaköy Cultural Center, Afife Jale Theatre, Beşiktaş Council Building,  Uğur Mumcu Monument, Tema Foundation Nature Museum, Nişantaşı - Teşvikiye Urban Design project, Hüsrev Gerede Monument in Teşvikiye  Square, Cumhuriyet-Halaskargazi Şişli Urban Design Project and several other projects for the public, private sector and civil society organizations.
 
Erhan İşözen published works on Üsküdar, Taksim and Beyazıt Squares, Istanbul City Guide, the Basilica Cistern, Ortaköy Square, Nişantaşı-Teşvikiye Urban Design Study, an apartment in Şişli, Cumhuriyet-Halaskargazi Şişli Square Urban Design Project, architect Vedat Tek and Hüsrev Gerede. He is often engaged in various architecture, painting, and sculpture competitions as a jury member. He is a GS Congress Member, Member of ÇEKÜL Foundation Advisory Board, Honorary Member of TAÇ Vakfı (Foundation for Protection of Historical Monumental Environment and Touristic Values), Member of TDY Advisory Board (Tourism Investors Association), and a Founding Member of Toplumsal Tarih Vakfı (Social History Foundation). He was nominated twice for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
