Walter Stelzhammer

Born in 1950 in Austria, Walter Stelzhammer graduated from Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in architecture. He founded his own firm in 1980 and since then realized more than ninety projects he designed. Among these, there is his own house in Fethiye (1984-97). Since 1982, he conveys his experience to younger generations as a lecturer at various universities.
Among the awards he received, there are the Austrian Government Incentive Award for Fine Arts and Architecture for his diploma project in 1978, Urban Renewal Award in 1985 and 1989 for urban transformation projects, Adolf Loos Award in 1992 and 1996 for housing projects, Otto Wagner Award in 1996 and 1998 for urban planning projects, the Austria Construction Award in 2009 for his innovative approach to housing with courtyards and atriums, the South Austria State Award for Architecture in 2010 and the Vienna State Award for Distinguished Service in 2011. He was the Vienna State president of Austrian Chamber of Architects and Engineers between 2006 and 2010, and he is the president of Vienna, South Austria and Burgenland States of Chamber of Architects and Engineers since 2010. He is the president of Ernst Anton Plischke Foundation since 2003.
Married with Emine Topalgökceli in 1983, Stelzhammer is father of a son, Kaan Feyzi.
